Sigh...snow

I know I shouldn't be surprised...it is still February.

Mars-Venus

The guys at work were talking about how they didn't realize until well after they were married how differently their wives think than them. The couples who accepted the differences and learned to work with compromise and understanding have strong marriages. The others...not so much.

I envy the marriages that are partnerships; sharing goals and interests. Even knowing that there must be days when they bicker and annoy each other, I'd like that kind of relationship. In the blogs I read: Compostwoman and Compostman, Rhonda and Hanno are the couples that stand out as having grown together and built something strong. It must be a relief to have someone beside you for mutual support and encouragement.

Happy Birthday!!

My sweet little baby boy has turned into a 17 year old young man overnight. I turned around and he's standing a head higher. I could go on and on about how proud I am of him. I'll settle for saying he's great and I love him just the way he is.

For Sale

In my on-going quest to save money and reduce my debt I decided to put a book for sale on Amazon Marketplace. It was a duplicate copy in new condition but I hadn't tried selling on Amazon before so imagine my surprise to get a sold email just a couple hours later. That has spurred me on to find other items to list (no charge if it doesn't sell). I put a few other books on and now I'm listing my boxed sets of Upstairs, Downstairs.

I estimate it will take me about 3 years to become debt free. Maybe a bit longer since my son will be in college then. As a reward after I reach that point and have a 6 month emergency fund in place, I'm going to save up for a solar panel array. Woohoo!

My son turns 17 next week. He asked for more weights for his bench and I actually found some on Craigslist. I'll keep looking for more.

Now if only this headache would go away.

Trouble above

These shots are from my attic. For the last few weeks I've had water stains appearing on my ceilings, getting progressively worse. Getting into the attic is a challenge by itself; first through the dropped ceiling opening, then the old ceiling opening, finally up what looks like a vertical tunnel. I don't fit. All I could do was climb as high on the ladder as possible and hold my camera up taking blind shots. There's definitely moisture getting in somewhere.

the zombie effect

The last time I was this tired it was the result of seriously strong medication. Today I came home from work, fell into bed, and slept for 4 hours.

aargh, aargh.

Melt already!

Yesterday was a February day through and through. Steel gray sky, biting north wind, and the realization that even with a couple of days well over freezing lately, my yard is still 95% deeply snow covered. Today feels better; the sun is shining and the temperature is making the snow mushy. I've got a bad case of spring fever though. Somewhere under there is my garden.

Fun evening

My friends Carrie and Michael came over for dinner tonight. Michael is the cook and Raleigh wanted to learn how to make homemade pizza, so Carrie and I left the kitchen to them. We watched Ghost Town (probably the tenth time for me...Lol). I knew she'd love it because she has the same taste for quirky movies that I have.

The pizza was fabulous. The company excellent. A very nice time.

Angst

I'm in a dark, cynical place tonight.

Hopefully, a solid night of sleep will help.
