Tonight I took Duchess hen over to the farm, hopefully to recover. Awhile back she was badly pecked on the back of the head but it had healed and I thought the trouble was over but today she was savagely attacked. My biggest concern is if her eyes have been damaged. If not, she should heal and become the matriarch at the farm.

Last week we planted the new hedge along the front yard. The weather has been great including a lovely 1.5" of rain on Saturday night. Unfortunately, it has been what I can only call a menopausal weekend so I haven't got much accomplished.

Come to think of it, it's been a rough time for critters. I took Rom, our geriatric kitty, to the vet on Saturday to have an ear infection confirmed and bought expensive medicine. There's something wrong with a system when it would cost less to have a pet put to sleep than it does to heal them.

Wow..that is expensive for the meds....the only reason I can think they would make it cheaper to have your pets euthanased is so that people with not so much money take this option rather than prolonging a pets agony because of cost.

Hope Duchess settles in OK and doesn't get pecked gain and I hope your Kitty is soon feeling better.
