I don't understand why some authors/publishers choose to list their books for full price in the Kindle format. Are there really that many readers willing to pay another $8 for something they've already got sitting on the bookshelf? The author I was looking at today is Anne McCaffrey. Books that have been available for 25, 30 or more years and can be found used for a penny can't be that tempting to the masses just for the convenience of an ebook. Oddly, I think they would find quite a few willing to spend $3 or $4 and the profits from that would be significant.
Today, though, I'll be pulling my old copy off the shelf to reread.
A little place in a little town where I will stumble along the path to being a little bit greener.

Wot? No spring!
Apparently we've skipped an entire season and gone straight to summer. Yes another day of record temps (80s) and loads of sunshine. It's hard to fight the urge to plant outside especially now that the rhubarb is up but I remind myself that we could have more snowstorms easily.
I have begun the clearing up the dead sticks and branches from the yard making good use of the garden cart I bought last week. I also made a trip to the dollar store where I picked up stocking hats from the clearance bins and a number of small useful items. I suspect the continued increases in gas prices will trigger yet another surge in the cost of everything in the stores (and the corresponding shrinkage of package sizes).
On a more positive note: I've popped a dozen eggs that hadn't been refrigerated into the incubator so in about three weeks we'll find out if Frodo is doing his roosterly duties. :)

Craft day
Saturday was a brilliant day! Not only was the weather beautiful with sunshine and warmth, but it was also a day spent meeting friendly people and working on projects. My friend held a craft day where everyone brought their current projects or brainstormed on new ones. Two girls worked on painting for a themed bridal shower. Four newbies took their first stitches knitting or crocheting. Pictured is Tony, a boyfriend accompanying one of the painters, and willing to try his hand at knitting.
In the background is the baby blanket I've finally managed to finish (before the baby was born!). After everyone else left my friend and I settled in to watch Bridesmaids for a girls movie night.
The whole day turned out so well that we're planning on making it a monthly event.
