And this is the star of the hatching, popping out at an unprecedented Day 16!!!! I would have expected a preemie to be sickly or undeveloped. Not this guy. A little lonely waiting for his siblings to catch up; I gave him a stocking cap to snuggle with. There are 10 other chicks also now and today was only Day 20, so there's still time for more.

Talk about a successful hatch you're having! When my husband was teaching, he hatched out two incubators full of eggs each spring, one of chicks and one of ducklings. The day the first birds started coming out brought the whole elementary school (and teachers!) in to experience the wonder of nature.
Wow, that must be a hatching record! These guys look really healthy. Nothing cuter than baby chicks.
