Warning: I have a sinus headache so this post may be a bit grumpy.
Today I find it annoying to read comments with excessive exclamation points. As in:
"blah! blah blah!! blah blah blah blah! blah!!! blah blah!!"
It's like a toddler jumping and demanding 'look at me!' I may look, but I'm not impressed. In fact, I lose a little respect for the writer with each point.
On a more positive side note, I found a tip for keeping effect/affect straight in my head. Remember that 'a'ffect equals 'a'ction. This should save me a lot of stopping in the middle of a sentence and looking it up. :)

Eeep! (Please note exclamation point.) I find myself using waaay too many exclamation points and do try to curtail the bad habit. I once read that if you knew how to correctly express yourself using the written word, you wouldn't feel the need to use exclamation points. I'm still working on it. :o)
It certainly wasn't you I noticed, although it was a comment on one of your posts that set me off on my rant. Lol.
Oh, I'm a terrible exclamation point person, and I have an awful tendency to leave my ellipses open, and further more I tend to drift off in sentences...
Guilty! I admit to using them deliberately, in an attempt to show I'm interested and enthusiastic about whatever the blogger posted about. Or I use emoticons, but honestly, I'm not sure if either is terribly effective (just resisted putting and exclamation point there :)
Made me smile, Leigh.
