This year as an experiment I planted a row of onion seeds next to the usual set. As I was checking them today during my weeding marathon I discovered that the seedlings are only as big as the original sets.
I'm tempted to plant more seeds and save the results for next year instead of buying more sets.

I have never bought onion seed as I presumed they would take so much longer to come than the sets...now you have me thinking...I know I have some seeds so i may experiment a little next year too!!

Me too! I've somehow also been set (Pardon the pun) to think onion seed are less successful. Next year I'm promising myself to give both a go.

I didn't know onions could be bought in 'sets'. I just bought seeds this year and they are going wild.
