I hoped the young chicks would bond with the broody hens and be adopted. It didn't work. The hens were too aggressive with the mothering and terrified the chicks who hid as far from them as they could. I ended up bringing them back inside until they are bigger.
In other, not so interesting news, I've given up pop to save money. Not a big thing in the larger scheme, but going through caffeine withdrawal is always a pain.

Very pretty pretties you showed us!
Oh, all that we go through with our animals, birds, bees, whatever. Changing their environment and routine (even when they're small, as you've discovered) is not always easy. Sometimes necessary, but not easy.
Congrats on giving up pop. It's not just the cost or the caffeine that's bad for us, but the sugar (chemicals when it's of the "diet" type) and other unnatural additives in it. So good, girl, good!!
Thanks, Mama Pea. Not feeling so good with the headaches, but I've gone through it before.
A great set of photos. Too bad you broody hens wouldn't bond with the chicks. Did you pop them under one at night? I've had success with that method, but it's been a couple of years since I had a broody hen.
